This website is the professional portfolio of Alin Constantin Goga. I collect as little data as possible and use it only to stay in touch with you and to know whether the site is useful to anyone.
Who is responsible for your data
Alin Constantin Goga — electrical engineer. For any question about your data: alingoga@yahoo.com.
What I collect and why
When you write to me through the contact form, you send me your name, email address and message. I use them to reply and stay in touch. Legal basis: your consent, given by sending the message, and my legitimate interest in replying to someone who contacts me (Art. 6(1)(a) and (f) GDPR).
Visit statistics. I use analytics software hosted on my own server (Umami). It shows me how many people visit, which pages they read and where they come from. It sets no cookies, does not track you across websites and does not store your IP address; so that visits by the same person are counted only once, it uses a temporary code derived from IP address and browser type, which changes once a month. Legal basis: my legitimate interest in understanding whether the site is useful (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Technical operating data. The server automatically records things like IP address and browser type, so the site works and stays protected from attacks. Legal basis: my legitimate interest in keeping the site running and secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Cookies: none
This website sets no cookies, and therefore needs no cookie banner.
The only thing your browser remembers is your scroll position when you switch language, so you don’t end up back at the top. It stays on your device, never reaches me, and disappears when you close the tab.
Who else sees the data
To work, the site relies on a few providers:
- Cloudflare — traffic to the site passes through it, for speed and protection against attacks. It sees visitors’ IP addresses.
- Google (Gmail) and Yahoo — your message from the form is sent from my server through my Gmail account and arrives in my Yahoo inbox.
The statistics go to no one — the software runs on my own server, not at Google or anywhere else.
Data also leaves the European Union
You should know this: Cloudflare, Google and Yahoo are United States companies. All traffic to the site goes through Cloudflare (the form included); the email with your message goes through Google and Yahoo.
The transfer relies on the European Commission’s adequacy decision for the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework; all three companies are certified under it. If you write to me directly by email (the address is in the page footer), your message does not pass through my server — it goes straight to my Yahoo inbox.
I do not sell or rent your data, and I do not send you marketing messages.
How long I keep the data
- Messages from the form — as long as it makes sense for our conversation and a possible collaboration; they are also included in my backups. You can ask for them to be deleted at any time.
- Statistics — each visit is stored individually on my server: time, page, where you came from, approximate country and city, device and browser type. No IP address and no name. There is no fixed deletion period, and the data is included in my backups.
- Technical operating data — briefly, only as long as needed for the site’s security.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access — to know what data I hold about you;
- Rectification — to have inaccurate data corrected;
- Erasure — to ask for your data to be deleted;
- Restriction — to ask that your data be kept but not used for a while (for example, while we check whether it is accurate);
- Portability — to receive your data in a form you can use elsewhere;
- Withdrawal of consent — at any time, without affecting processing carried out before.
Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR). The statistics, the technical operating data and the reply to your message rely on my legitimate interest. You can object to this processing at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation — an email is enough. I will then stop processing the data, unless there are compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, or the data is needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Write to me at alingoga@yahoo.com and I’ll take care of it.
If you are not satisfied with how I handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority: in Romania, the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP), or the authority in your own country if you live elsewhere in the European Union.
Security
The site uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and the administration area is additionally protected. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but I take reasonable measures to protect your data.
Links to other websites
The site contains links to other platforms (for example LinkedIn, YouTube). They open only if you click them — nothing is loaded from there while you read my pages. I am not responsible for their privacy practices; please check their policies.
Changes
I may update this policy, for example if I add a new tool. Changes appear on this page, with the date of the update.
